The latest COVID-19 case update from the Pierre School District (Oct. 20) shows five students and one staff member have active cases.
The active cases are students from Jefferson Elementary (1), Georgia Morse Middle School (1) and T.F. Riggs High School (3). The staff member works in Kennedy Elementary.
The district “strongly recommends” students and staff wear masks at school anywhere social distancing cannot be maintained. The district changed its policy last month to require Pierre students at all grade levels to wear masks at all extra-curricular activities. Parents and fans are strongly encouraged to wear masks at events. Those attending extra curricular activities at Hollister Field or in the high school gym should sit in every other row, meaning do not sit on any bleachers marked with tape.
The Pierre School District updates its COVID-19 case numbers on Mondays on the school’s website.
