Republicans Tom Rounds and Randy Brown have been elected to the Hughes County Commission.
Rounds took 39% of the vote, followed by Brown’s 36% and democrat Vicky Wilkey’s 25%. Rounds and Brown will be sworn in at the first commission meeting in January.
In other central South Dakota county races,
- Janice Von Eye won the Buffalo County Treasure’s race
- Emily Marcottte won the Faulk County State’s Attorney race
- Steve Roseland and Bill Schilder got the most votes in the Faulk County Commission race to take those seats
- Kirby Krogman was elected to the Jones County State’s Attorney position
- Casey Krogman won the Mellette District 2 county commission election
- Dan Forgey was elected to the District 2 slot on the Tripp County Commission
- Lance Matucha took the most votes to win the Gregory County Commission race
- In Lyman County’s Commission election, Brian Kraus and Leslie Reuer were the top vote getters
- Bill Henderson and David Pesicka earned Ziebach County Commission seats
