An 18-year-old Pierre man has been arrested in connection with two business burglaries over the weekend (Nov. 14).
Information from the Pierre Police Department says Central South Dakota Communications dispatch received a report of a burglary in progress at a business located in the 1800 block of Table Street around 5:45 Saturday morning. Officers found Roper Hammersley inside of the building and took him into custody.
Later that morning, a business owner in the 1900 block of North Airport Road also reported a burglary. The business owner identified items found in Hammersley’s possession at the time of his arrest as being stolen.
Hammersley is currently in custody at the Hughes County Jail on various felony and misdemeanor charges, including two 3rd Degree Burglary counts.
