Today’s (Nov. 30, 2020) update from the state Department of Health shows there have been 946 coronavirus related deaths in South Dakota since the state began tracking information in March. Of the 946 deaths, 521 were reported this month (Nov. 2020).
The Health Department’s covid.sd.gov website also shows 455 new confirmed cases and 109 new probable cases of coronavirus in the state since yesterday.

Coronavirus patients currently occupy 19.4% of the staffed hospital beds in the state. Other patients are using 40.8% of the staffed beds leaving 39.8% available. Of the staffed adult intensive care unit beds in the state, COVID-19 patients are using 47.8%, other patients occupy 33.5% and 18.7% are available to be used. 74.8% of the ventilators in the state are still available for use.

A confirmed case of COVID-19 is defined as persons with a positive RT-PCR test. A probable case is defined as persons with a positive antigen test for the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19.
