Two new commissioners and the sheriff were sworn in at the Hughes County Commission’s first meeting of the year yesterday (Mon.).
Tom Rounds and Randy Brown were sworn in, replacing Roger Inman and Norm Weaver– neither of which sought reelection.
Darin Johnson was sworn in for his first full term as Hughes County Sheriff. Johnson was appointed interim sheriff last January, filling the position vacated by Mike Leidholt when he took over as the Secretary of Corrections for the State of South Dakota. Johnson was appointed sheriff in February of last year. He ran unopposed in the 2020 election.
