Two Pierre School Board seats up for reelection this year; James and Hartmann announce intent to run again

The Pierre School Board has approved holding a joint election on June 8 with Pierre and Hughes County.

Business manager Darla Mayer says two school board seats are up for reelection this year.

She says two terms are up this year.

Both Hartmann and James said they intend to run for their 4^th and 5^th terms, respectively.

Those interested in running for a spot on the Pierre School Board can begin circulating petitions March 1. They must be filed by 5pm March 31.

At last week’s Pierre City Commission meeting (Jan. 5, 2021), commissioner Jim Mehlhaff announced he will not be seeking reelection while commissioner Jamie Huizenga said he intends to run again.

Hughes County doesn’t need to have an election this year.
