A pair of juvenile boys got a lesson in fire safety yesterday afternoon (Feb. 23) when the fireworks they were using started a grass fire in the northwest part of Pierre.
Volunteer Fire Department chief Ian Paul says the fire was on the north end of Poplar Avenue just off of 8th Street about 4:30pm.
Paul reminds people– both in towns and in the country– conditions in the area are very dry, so a fire could spread quickly.
A shop fire was also reported at the Jim and Carol Korkow farm between Pierre and Blunt last night. DRG Media Group has not yet received a response requesting details of that fire.
