The South Dakota State Historical Society Museum will host Take-to-Make a holiday ornament activity tomorrow (Nov. 6, 2021) from 10am-3pm CDT (9am-2pm MDT) at the Cultural Heritage Center in Pierre.
Visitors will pick up bags with the materials and instructions and take the ornaments home to complete. In addition to the written instructions, instructional videos on how to make the ornaments are posted on the museum’s website at https://history.sd.gov/museum/education.aspx.
Five different decorations will be available. They include the popular eight-pointed wreath of folded paper, a pine cone Christmas tree, a wheat stalk ornament, a beads and bells pipe cleaner ornament and a beady pheasant. A sixth “bonus” bag holds a blank card and various stickers that can be used to create a unique holiday card.

The museum is open for visitors. Signage encourages visitors to maintain 6-foot social distancing and hand sanitizer stations are located throughout the museum.
There is now free admission to the museum for all South Dakota residents. Out-of-state adult visitors pay an $8 admission fee or $6 for out-of-state seniors 60 and older.
