Eureka, SD-Funeral Service for Brenda Lou Flemmer, 64, of Eureka will be 10:30 am, Monday, November 15, 2021, at Zion American Lutheran Church. Rev. Ryan Gage will officiate. The service will be live streamed and available at www.Carlsenfh.com under Brenda’s obituary.
Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
There will be a prayer service Sunday at 4:30 pm with visitation from 3:00 to 4:30 pm at the funeral home.
Brenda died November 9, 2021, at Sanford USD Medical Center.
Brenda Lou Bertsch, daughter of Roger R. and Gladys (Bakker) Bertsch was born January 27, 1957, in Ashley, ND. She grew up on the family homestead and attended her first eight years of school in Ashley and her last four years in Eureka, graduating in 1975. She then attended Northern State College for one year.
Brenda was united in marriage to Thomas Flemmer on March 13, 1976, in Ashley Baptist Church. They made their home in Eureka and over the years, Brenda enjoyed several jobs in Eureka. In 1999, she and Tom became employed with Tharaldson Hospitality Development as Construction Managers overseeing the building of motels from coast to coast across the United States building 22 properties. In 2019, she and Tom retired and resettled back in Eureka.
Brenda was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. She enjoyed crafting and bird watching. Her grandchildren were the highlight of her life and time spent with her family was always something she thoroughly enjoyed.
Grateful for having shared Brenda’s life are her husband of 45 years, Tom; sons, Josh (Shantel) Flemmer of Eureka and Eric (Carina) Flemmer of Herreid, SD; two grandchildren, Riley, and Maverick; two step-grandchildren, Breanna, and Ty; sister, Susan (Dean) Christianson of Ashley and brother, Brian (Angie) Bertsch of Ashley.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roger, and Gladys.
Casketbearers will be Josh Flemmer, Eric Flemmer, Ryan Von Wald, Brandon Duquette, Gary Wolff, and Justin Roggenkamp.
