A strong winter storm system is on its way out of the region, but strong winds, including gusts up to 50mph or more, remain.
State Department of Public Safety public information officer Tony Mangan says people are still encouraged to stay put.
Mangan says because a stretch of road is open– or back open– doesn’t mean its safe to travel.
South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem says the state is deploying resources when requested by local, county or state officials.
Noem encourages people to delay any travel plans until the storm is past.
Tensions are running high because of the storm and Mangan reminds folks to please be patient with each other and the cleanup work.
