MOBRIDGE – Kaycee Groves hit a go-ahead three-pointer with 26 seconds left Thursday as the Faith Longhorns edged the Sully Buttes Chargers 47-44 in a girls Class B SoDak 16 game at Mobridge-Pollock High School.
Groves gave Faith a 45-44 lead for the game’s eighth lead change, then Sully Buttes had three shots in the last 10 seconds, including two at the rim, but none fell.
Cassidy Scheulke scored 19 points for Faith (18-5). TyAnn Mortensen and Groves each scored 10.
Stevie Wittler led Sully Buttes (18-5) with 19 points, all in the first half. Allyson Wittler scored 14. Lydia Hill added 10. The Chargers were bidding to make the state tournament for the first time since 2018.
Faith will play Wall Thursday in Watertown in the first round of the SDHSAA Class B State Tournament.
