Kristin Rae McIntire, 48, Sioux Falls, SD, died Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls after a long and courageous battle with autoimmune diseases.
OBITUARY AS WRITTEN BY KRISTIN
I was born Kristin Rae Kaup, to Ray and Roselyn (Duenwald) in Hoven, SD on August 6, 1973.
I attended school in Hoven and graduated from Hoven High School in 1991. I graduated from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion in 1995 then moved to Sioux Falls. I proudly worked for Avera McKennan Hospital for fifteen wonderful years.
I was blessed with two boys, Kameron and Kaston, born and raised in Sioux Falls. I enjoyed the love and closeness to my family and friends and took advantage of any opportunity to use my creative talents.
I am survived by my two beloved children: Kameron McIntire and Kaston McIntire both of Sioux Falls. I am also survived by my mother Roselyn Kaup of Sioux Falls; my siblings Keith Kaup of Hoven; Kay (Toby) Klocker of Hoven; Jerry (Shari) Kaup of Hoven; Colette (Tim) Giese of Sioux Falls; and Jack (Shelly) Kaup of Rapid City, SD; 9 nieces, 5 nephews, 15 great nieces and 16 great nephews; special Godchildren Colby Kaup, Kelsey (Kaup) Limesand, Mason Kaup and McKinsey Rodenburg; and a wealth of cherished and loving friends and co-workers. You all meant the world to me.
I was preceded in death by my father Ray Kaup; sister-in-law Mary Ann Kaup; nephew Lee Michael Kaup; grandparents Frank and Ange (Wickert) Kaup; Fred and Rose (Rausch) Duenwald; and several other beloved relatives and special friends.
If I have learned but one thing through challenges in my lifetime, it is that you do not need money, a PhD, or a fancy title to do great work. Each day provides us with endless opportunities to be successful and leave a legacy you can be proud of. “May the work I’ve done speak for me.” -Kristin Rae McIntire
I simply ask that you honor my memory by helping a neighbor, shovel a sidewalk, run an errand, or cook a meal for someone in need. I received many of these kindnesses during my illnesses throughout the years and would like everyone to “Pay it Forward” on my behalf.
Memorials may be designated to the Kristin McIntire Memorial Fund established at Plains Commerce Bank (Attn: Colette Giese, 3905 W. 49th St., Sioux Falls, SD 57106 which will help to support the needs of my children, Kameron (20) and Kaston (16).
