The Pierre City Commission has signed an agreement to to help increase the availability of new employees for the community through the State’s Build Dakota Scholarship program
Pierre Economic Development Corporation COO Jim Protexter says the partnership brings the City, PEDCO and local businesses together to provide scholarships for students who agree to work in high-demand careers in Pierre.
He says under the industry match grant partnership, the City would pay for one-eighth of the total scholarship.
Protexter says they currently have three students participating in this partnership.
Pierre mayor Steve Harding says supporting the Build Dakota Scholarships is a great opportunity.
The agreement between PEDCO and the City of Pierre ends in five years or when the funding is expended, whichever comes first.
