A 16-year-old male sustained serious, non-life threatening injuries and two teen drivers face charges after an accident Friday night (Sept. 4) in Pierre.
According to the South Dakota Highway Patrol, two vehicles were northbound in the 300 block of Highland Avenue around 8:45pm. The drivers of a 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix and a 2002 Chevrolet Impala both failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of Broadway Avenue and Highland Avenue. The driver of the Grand Prix lost control and the vehicle crashed into a large tree on the east side of the street. The 16-year-old male driver had to be extricated from the vehicle.
Neither the 15-year-old female driver nor the 16-year-old female passenger was injured.
All three teens were wearing seat belts. Charges pending against both drivers.
