Repairs on a major Mni Wiconi water line continue today (Sept. 15), so a water restriction that went into effect yesterday in Fort Pierre is still in effect.
Customers are asked to limit unnecessary water usage and watering lawns is not allowed. The Bureau of Reclamation and Mni Wiconi hope to have the leak fixed by this evening.
Also related to the water line leak, portions of the West River/Lyman-Jones Rural Water system may experience low pressures and outages until repairs are complete.
The areas most likely to be impacted are the Oahe Downstream Campgrounds, Frontier Road and the rural area between Fort Pierre and Interstate 90. Other areas north and south of the I-90 corridor are likely to be impacted if the Mni Wiconi pipeline is shut down longer than expected.
