Ian Fury, Communications Director for South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, released the following information yesterday (Sept. 29, 2020) regarding Noem’s increasing national notoriety.
“This past Friday (Sept. 18, 2020), Governor Noem participated in the annual Buffalo Roundup at Custer State Park. This event is a tremendous tourism opportunity for our state and highlights a unique part of South Dakota’s heritage. This year’s Roundup attracted national attention, with Fox News sending a camera crew to produce a segment for Fox and Friends. The segment aired to 2.1 million viewers nationwide, and you can view the segment here.
This coverage is yet another example of how Governor Noem’s growing national profile benefits South Dakota. Additional attention is being paid to some of our state’s most iconic events, which will in turn lead to additional tourism to the state. Early estimates of this year’s Roundup indicate that over 20,000 people watched the event in-person. Governor Noem will continue taking every opportunity to highlight the things that make South Dakota special, and the additional enthusiasm in visiting and moving to South Dakota will continue to drive our state’s strong economic recovery.”
