Today’s (Oct. 5) update from the South Dakota Department of Health showed 181 new cases of COVID-19 in the state since yesterday.
Of the 251 positive cases in inmates and staff at the State Women’s Prison in Pierre (235 inmates, 16 staff), as of this morning 163 have recovered (153 prisoners, 10 staff). Hughes County currently has 169 active cases of COVID-19, roughly half (88) are connected to the women’s prison.
