Today’s (Oct. 13) COVID-19 case update from the Pierre School District shows zero active cases among students and three active cases in staff in the district.
T.F. Riggs High School started a hybrid class schedule in September after a majority of students had to be in quarantine because they were close contacts of the around 20 active cases in the school.
The district “strongly recommends” students and staff wear masks at school anywhere social distancing cannot be maintained. The district changed its policy last month to require Pierre students at all grade levels to wear masks at all extra-curricular activities. Parents and fans are strongly encouraged to wear masks at events. Those attending extra curricular activities at Hollister Field or in the high school gym should sit in every other row, meaning do not sit on any bleachers marked with tape.
