A man from Fort Thompson and a woman from Fort Pierre were seriously injured and a woman from Rapid City was killed in a one-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon (Oct. 18 1:56pm) in Minnehaha County.
Information from the South Dakota Highway Patrol says 33 year old Autumn Dimit from Rapid City was driving a 2001 Ford Explorer eastbound on South Dakota Highway 42, near the intersection with 483rd Avenue, when the vehicle left the roadway and rolled. Dimit was pronounced dead at the scene.
The two passengers, 34-year-old Zachary Ziegler of Fort Thompson and 26-year-old Tia Laroche of Fort Pierre were thrown from the vehicle and sustained serious non-life threatening injuries. Both were taken by ambulance to a Sioux Falls hospital. None of the three occupants were wearing seat belts.
The accident is still under investigation by the South Dakota Highway Patrol.
