Today’s (Oct. 29, 2020) update from the South Dakota Department of Health showed 918 new confirmed cases and 82 new probable cases of COVID-19 in the state since yesterday.
In South Dakota:
- 12,462 currently active cases
- 413 currently hospitalized
- 41,507 total confirmed cases
- 1493 total probable cases
- 30,135 recovered cases
- 403 total deaths
Coronavirus patients currently occupy 15.1% of the staffed hospital beds in the state. Other patients are using 54.8% of the staffed beds leaving 30.1% available. Of the staffed intensive care unit beds in the state, COVID-19 patients are using 24.1%, other patients occupy 40% and 35.9% are available to be used.

A confirmed case of COVID-19 is defined as persons with a positive RT-PCR test. A probable case is defined as persons with a positive antigen test for the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19.
