The 16th annual Tyler Wilcox Memorial Guns n’ Hoses Blood Drive in Fort Pierre and Pierre ended today (Dec. 4, 2020) with 477 units of blood and blood products being donated and Team Guns defeating Team Hoses 258 to 220.
The goal was 420 units.
Vitalant Senior Donor Recruiter Abbie Arneson says many blood drives have been canceled because of COVID-19, but the need for blood is still there.
She says the blood drive will be even bigger next year.
Tyler Wilcox passed away at the age of 19 after a three year battle with cancer. His mom, Jeri, is touched by the willingness of people to donate and is looking forward to a four day event next year.
Thank you to everyone who came in to donate blood during the blood drive and thank you to all of the volunteers, workers and sponsors who helped make the 16th Annual Tyler Wilcox Memorial Guns n’ Hoses Blood Drive a huge success!
