The traditional Christmas Day dinner at the Pat Duffy Community and Youth Involved Center in Fort Pierre will be held this year, but with a few modifications.
Fort Pierre mayor Gloria Hanson says curbside pickup will be available.
Hanson says for those who would like to eat inside and enjoy some socialization, the meal will be served in two groups to allow for social distancing.
There is no set fee for the meal, but a free will offering is encouraged and appreciated to cover the cost. People who wish to volunteer to help should call DeLynn Hanson at 605-280-7929.
Incidentally, River Cities Public Transit will provide free rides for Pierre and Fort Pierre residents to and from the dinner. If possible, please call RCPT in advance at 605-945-2360 for scheduling purposes, but calls will be accepted Christmas Day as well.
Again, serving will begin at 11am for people whose last names begin with A-M. Serving will start at 12:30pm for people with last names beginning with N-Z. Mask wearing and social distancing while waiting in line are requested.
If people would prefer curbside pickup, they should call the Pat Duffy Community Center after 10:45am on Christmas Day at 605-223-2701. The phone will be staffed to take orders.
