Fireworks allowed tonight in Fort Pierre, but not in Pierre

Fort Pierre residents can send 2020 out with a bang– lots of bangs, actually.

Mayor Gloria Hanson says shooting off fireworks is only allowed in city limits from 5pm tonight (Dec. 31) until 1am tomorrow.

Hanson says fireworks have a different feel on New Year’s Eve than they do on the 4^th of July.

Again, fireworks may only be discharged in Fort Pierre city limits from 5pm tonight (Dec. 31) until 1am tomorrow.

As for Pierre, city ordinance does NOT allow residents to shoot off fireworks tonight– at all.
