A new volunteer group being formed at the Georgia Morse Middle School in Pierre hopes to connect youth with an adult who has similar interests to serve as the young person’s mentor.
TEAMMATES of Pierre coordinator Renae Lehman says the goal for the mentors is to help get to the student through high school graduation and beyond.
She says the mentors visit their mentee weekly at the school and serve as a “cheerleader” for the student.
Lehman says TEAMMATES mentors can have a long lasting, positive impact on the student they’re mentoring.
