MINNEAPOLIS – South Dakota played closely but couldn’t overcome Minnesota Friday in the first round of the NCAA Volleyball Tournament, as the Gophers topped the Coyotes in three straight sets, 25-19, 25-22, 25-17.
Elizabeth Juhnke had 12 kills and 10 digs for South Dakota (20-10). Maddie Wiedenfeld had nine kills. Madison Jurgens had 20 assists and eight digs.
The Coyotes made the NCAA Tournament by winning the Summit League postseason tournament for the third time in four seasons.
