SIOUX FALLS – Chloe Lamb’s decision to play one more year has really paid off.
Lamb, the University of South Dakota sixth-year senior and Sully Buttes alum, was named Thursday as the Summit League Women’s Basketball Player of the Year.
In the regular season, Lamb averaged 15.7 points, 3.6 assists and 1.9 steals per game while shooting 47 percent from the floor. In 18 conference games, Lamb scored in double figures in 17 of them. She scored a career-high 30 points in a 72-61 overtime win over Pittsburgh on November 27 at the Paradise Jam in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Lamb is the third player from the Coyotes to be named as the Summit League Player of the Year, joining Nicole Seekamp in 2016 and Ciara Duffy in 2020. She also was named first-team all-conference, making her an all-league player for the third time, and to the all-defensive team.
USD’s Hannah Sjerven was named as the Summit League Defensive Player of the Year for the third straight season. Sjerven is second in the conference with 56 blocked shots.
Freshman guard Grace Larkins was named as the league’s Sixth Woman of the Year. Larkins had seven double-figure scoring games during the regular season.
