MINNEAPOLIS – Shortstop Carlos Correa won several Twins Diamond Awards for 2022.
Correa was named the team’s most valuable player, top defensive player and won the team’s Outstanding Community Service Award.
Correa, who hit .291 with 22 home runs, 64 RBI and 70 runs scored this past season, recently told a Puerto Rican newspaper that he plans to opt out after the first season of his three-year, $105.3 million contract with the Twins.
Nick Gordon won the award as Most Improved Twin. Gordon hit .272 with nine home runs, 28 doubles, four triples and 50 RBI.
Reliever Johan Duran was named as the Twins’ Pitcher of the Year and Rookie of the Year. In 57 relief appearances, Duran struck out 89 batters in 67 and two-thirds innings and was 2-4 with a 1.86 ERA.
Correa, first baseman Luis Arraez and right fielder Max Kepler were all named as Gold Glove finalists. Winners of those awards will be named on November 1.
