The National Weather Service says the first winter storm of the season is poised to move into the region Wednesday night into Thursday morning (Nov. 9-10, 2022) and deliver the season’s first round of accumulating snowfall to parts of South Dakota. This system will bring a wintry mix of snow, rain and freezing rain starting Wednesday night and continuing into Friday. The wintry mix will gradually transition to all snow from west to east during the day on Thursday. Strong winds on the back side of the storm will lead to blowing snow with significantly reduced visibility Thursday into Friday.
Incoming storm expected to kick winter off in central South Dakota with 6-ish inches of snow, gusty winds
