With winter weather setting in, residents of Pierre are being reminded about snow routes and parking rules.
City Utilities director Brad Palmer says boats, campers, trailers and other such vehicles need to be moved off of city streets.
Palmer says when they issue a snow alert, vehicles need to be moved off of snow routes.
He says sidewalks in Pierre need to be cleared within 48 hours of the end of a snow event.
Police Chief Jason Jones reminds people that just because your street has been plowed, doesn’t mean you’re able to park on it again.
Palmer says they use local media and AlertSense notifications to let Pierre residents know when a snow alert has been issued.
During the sign-up process, people can choose to receive snow alerts or power outage information through email or text message. Participants have full control over their alert preferences and can change them at any time. People who sign up with AlertSense, can also opt to receive geographically relevant alerts from the National Weather Service.
