The firefighters took the lead over law enforcement 86 to 43 yesterday (Nov. 30, 2022) after the first day of the Tyler Wilcox Memorial Guns and Hoses blood drive in Fort Pierre.
This is the first year the LifeServe Blood Center has been the blood collection provider for this annual blood drive and COO Christine Hayes says she’s impressed by the energy surrounding the event.
Hayes says the local support for the blood drive is also impressive.
Because some people are able to donate double red cells, 138 units of blood were collected from 121 people. This year’s goal is once again 515 units of blood.
Today and tomorrow the blood drive is at Faith Lutheran Church in Pierre. Today’s hours are noon-5:30pm and tomorrow’s are 8am-1:30pm CT.
With one donation, you can impact up to three lives.
