The Verendrye Museum is holding its annual meeting this evening (Jan. 25, 2023) at 5pm CT at the Moose Lodge in Fort Pierre. The social hour will be followed by dinner, entertainment and the annual meeting.
This year’s entertainment will be provided by Willie Cowan. Willie will talk about his recently published book, “It’s a long one, but a good one!” All proceeds from his book are donated directly to the Casey Tibbs South Dakota Rodeo Center to help preserve and promote their history.
Following Cowan’s presentation, the annual meeting of the Verendrye Museum members will take place with annual 2022 reports, the 2023 barbecue fundraiser update and election of officers.
The Verendrye Museum encourages those who wish to attend to RSVP by contacting Connie at 605-223-2042 or by emailing contact@verendryemuseum.com.
The museum offers memberships to suit any budget, ranging from $35 to $500. A membership includes the annual meeting dinner and support the operations and maintenance of the five historical museums (Verendrye Museum, Fort Pierre Depot Museum, Sansarc Country School Museum, Old Jail, and the Log Cabin Visitor Center Museum) to help preserve and expand the significance of history in central South Dakota.
If you cannot attend the annual meeting, but would like to support the Verendrye Museum’s operations, maintenance, and educational programing, become a member by completing the online membership application. Additionally, cash donations are accepted or interested persons may give through the endowment fund with the South Dakota Community Foundation. All contributions are tax deductible as the Verendrye Museum is a non-profit 501(c)3.
