Friday afternoons find a lot of peopling thinking about their weekend plans, but for some students of the Pierre School District, Friday afternoons may find them wondering what they will eat over the weekend. That’s where the Governor Grocery Pantry at Georgia Morse Middle School comes in.
School Board member Dennis James says this afternoon (Dec. 15, 2023), students will get a little extra.
Recently, District Superintendent Dr. Kelly Glodt and Director of Education Troy Wiebe (we-be) were on hand to see the preparation process, which prompted this exchange during this week’s school board meeting (Dec. 11, 2023).
Wiebe says seeing the pantry volunteers in action was impressive.
This year the Governor Grocery Pantry was expanded to TF Riggs High School students, where they’re given a grab bag option. The program is not funded by the school district, but is supported solely by donations and volunteers.
