DECEMBER 21, 2023:
Tax collections were mostly up for the City of Fort Pierre in October 2023 when compared to the same month in 2022.
City Finance Officer Roxanne Heezen says the general sales tax revenue is 43.19% above last year, but that’s because of a correction that was made.
Heezen says “triple B”– or bed, board and booze– tax revenues increased.
Heezen says occupancy tax collections are down slightly, but on track to be higher than last year.

NOVEMBER 7, 2023:
Tax collections were mixed for the City of Fort Pierre in September, but the average is ahead for 2023, compared to 2022.
City Finance Officer Roxanne Heezen shared the general sales tax numbers with the city council during last night’s (Nov. 6, 2023) meeting.
Heezen says “triple B”– or bed, board and booze– tax revenues were slightly lower and occupancy tax collections were mildly higher than they were in September of last year.

SEPTEMBER 29, 2023:
The Fort Pierre City Council has approved (Sept. 18, 2023) part of the town’s budget for the upcoming year.
Mayor Gloria Hanson says the $4.7 million allocation covers a variety of areas.
Hanson says Fort Pierre’s sales tax revenue has pulled ahead of property tax revenue.
The Fort Pierre City Council will finalize the other part of its budget in the coming months.

AUGUST 8, 2023:
The first half of 2023 has treated Fort Pierre well in terms of tax collections.
City Finance Officer Roxanne Heezen shared the general sales tax numbers with the city council during last night’s (Aug. 7, 2023) meeting.
Heezen says “triple B”– or bed, board and booze– tax revenues were also up over 2022.
She says Fort Pierre’s occupancy tax collection was lower, however….
Alderman Todd Bernhard was pleased with the numbers.
Heezen says they’ll use these numbers as they begin to work through their 2024 budget.
