FEBRUARY 15, 2024:
27 Vietnam and Vietnam-era veterans received a commemorative lapel pin and thanks for their service during a ceremony yesterday afternoon (Feb. 14, 2024) at the American Legion Cabin in Pierre.
South Dakota U.S. Senator Mike Rounds, who presented the pins, said the recognition of their service for their country is long overdue. The pinning ceremonies recognize, honor and thank South Dakota’s Vietnam and Vietnam-era veterans and their families for their service, valor and sacrifice. Living United States veterans who served on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces at any time during the period from Nov. 1, 1955, to May 15, 1975, regardless of location, are eligible to receive one lapel pin.

South Dakota U.S. Senator Mike Rounds will be hosting a Vietnam Veteran Lapel Pin Ceremony in Pierre tomorrow (Feb. 14, 2024) at 3pm CT at the American Legion Cabin (520 South Pierre Street).
The pinning ceremonies recognize, honor and thank South Dakota’s Vietnam and Vietnam-era veterans for their service, valor and sacrifice. Living United States veterans who served on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces at any time during the period from Nov. 1, 1955, to May 15, 1975, regardless of location, are eligible to receive one lapel pin.
