Resources available in the Pierre/Fort Pierre/Hughes County/Stanley County area:
Pierre Area Referral Service or PARS— PARS provides emergency assistance to income eligible individuals as well as other programming that is available to all income groups.

Currently the agency administers the Pierre/Fort Pierre Food Pantry, Holiday Food Program, Emergency Assistance Program, BackPack Food Program, Sr. Food Box Program, and Information & Referral Services. Pierre Area Referral Service is also the local Salvation Army Service Unit for Hughes and Stanley County.
Southeast Pierre Community Center, Home of the Banquet— Each Thursday, they invite people in for a free meal. All are welcome. During the winter months, they also open their coat room where all are able to pick out a coat or jacket for the winter months.
Governor Grocery— located at Georgia Morse Middle School in Pierre. It provides free food, hygiene items, school supplies, winter clothing and weekend meals for middle and high school students in Pierre. The pantry serves 40–70 middle schoolers with weekend meal packs and offers grab-and-go bags for high school students. Run by volunteers, the program relies on community support. Sponsorships of $75 per month provide food for one child.
Buff’s Closet— in the elementary and middle-high schools for all students. It’s open Mon.-Thurs. from 7:30am- 4:30pm. They’ve had an increase of students getting personal hygiene items, not just food.
Fort Pierre Congregational Church Community Supper— held every Wednesday from 5:30 – 6:30pm CT at 112 Main Ave. Fort Pierre. Find information at https://www.facebook.com/groups/1926304967588281/.
“Blessings Box” at Lutheran Memorial Church in Pierre— holds food donations for those in need. (see photo below)

Feeding South Dakota warehouse in Pierre— not a direct food source, but partners with many food pantry organizations to help stock their shelves.
Avera Pierre Clinic Wellness Pantry— for Avera patients who screen as food insecure during their appointment.
Statewide resources:
Feeding South Dakota Mobile Food Distribution— A statewide resource. Distributes free food to individuals and families throughout the state. Each family receives nutritious foods such as fresh and frozen produce, meat, shelf-stable items, dairy products, boxed meals, and more. 211 Helpline Center— A statewide resource. Once you enter your location, it will show resources for food, clothing/hygiene, housing, healthcare, mental health and more in your area.
