Pierre to trim tree branches starting next week

Pierre city staff will begin trimming trees Wednesday (Jan. 14, 2026) of next week.

Mayor Steve Harding says this is a good time of year to do the work.

Harding says trees along streets and in alleys will have their branches trimmed.

Orange cones or “candlesticks” with “No Parking” signs will be set out at least 24 hours in advance of when city staff will be trimming in a particular part of Pierre. People are asked to avoid parking on streets where the cones are placed until after the tree trimming work is complete and the cones have been removed.
