The United States and South Dakota flags are posted across the Missouri River Bridge between Pierre and Fort Pierre today (Jan. 19, 2026) in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
The flags are sponsored by Don’s Sinclair.
In addition, over 130 Pierre businesses will fly a flag in front of their business for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
Since the early 1980’s, the Pierre-Fort Pierre Exchange Club and Boy Scout Troop 27 have partnered to post flags outside sponsoring businesses on designated holidays. If you are a business or individual that is interested in having a flag posted as part of this patriotic project, please contact Scott Rounds at 605-280-9611. Cost for an annual contract is $40.
The Pierre-Fort Pierre Exchange Club meets on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month at noon at Jake’s Good Times Place.
