Feb. 6, 2026:
The Fort Pierre Tourism and Promotion Council has awarded $7,500 in Boots & Roots: 4th in Fort Pierre Event Grants to support expanded entertainment and experience options during this year’s Independence Day celebration.
Drifters Bar & Grille, the Fort Pierre Fire Department and the Fort Pierre Historic Sculpture Committee each received $2,500.
In coordination with the 250th birthday of the United States, Boots and Roots: 4th in Fort Pierre will take place from July 1-5. It’ll bring together patriotism, live entertainment, family-friendly attractions, historical elements and community traditions, all culminating in a grand finale fireworks show.
Drifters will use its grant to support live music and expanded family-friendly programming, adding to the festive atmosphere that draws locals and visitors alike to Fort Pierre over the holiday weekend.
The Fort Pierre Fire Department will apply its funding toward an expanded fireworks display, enhancing one of the most anticipated highlights of the Boots & Roots celebration and ensuring a memorable Fourth of July experience along the Missouri River.
The Fort Pierre Historic Sculpture Committee will use its grant to host a Historic Sculpture Unveiling event, showcasing Fort Pierre’s rich history and cultural identity while adding a meaningful new attraction to the community during the celebration.

Wednesday (January 21, 2026) is the deadline to submit applications for the 2026 Boots & Roots 4th of July Event Grants, available through the Fort Pierre Tourism & Promotion Council.
Jasmine Fosheim with the Council says in honor of the nation’s 250th birthday, Fort Pierre will turn its annual one day 4th of July celebration into a five-day festival of activities.
Fosheim encourages all types of groups and events to apply for the grants.
Fosheim says grants of up to $2,500 are available, each requiring a 50% cash match.

Fort Pierre Tourism and Promotion Council Vice President Emily Steber says they’re leaning into everything that makes Fort Pierre special- including the history, the culture, and the love of a good time. She says the celebration hopes to honor the community’s history and hospitality while inviting visitors to enjoy days filled with expanded traditions, new activities and Fort Pierre’s hometown spirit.
