A 55 year old man from Mound City has been sentenced to 15 years in prison, with five years suspended after being convicted of Third-Degree Rape.
Danny Goehring was sentenced June 29, 2026, in Walworth County Circuit Court.
According to Walworth County State’s Attorney Sarah Malsom, Goehring was also was ordered to pay restitution to the victim of in the amount of $962.02, $116.50 court costs, and $57.50 to Walworth County.
“This was a violent crime committed against an innocent victim,” said Malsom. “We keep the victim in our thoughts and prayers. Thank you to law enforcement who investigated this case.”
The incident happened June 14, 2025, in Selby, SD. Goehring was found guilty by a Walworth County jury on March 10, 2026.
Goehring has 30 days to appeal his conviction.
South Dakota’s Division of Criminal Investigation and the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office investigated. The Walworth County State’s Attorney’s Office prosecuted the case.
