Heat, lack of moisture dragging down condition ratings for crops in South Dakota

The recent intense heat and dry weather has taken a toll on the crops in South Dakota.

U.S. Department of Agriculture Meteorologist Brad Rippey (rip-ee) shares the data from this week’s USDA Crop Progress Report.

Rippey says the soybean crop is also taking a hit.

Rippey says sorghum in South Dakota– and around the country– has been hit hard by drought over the past six weeks.

On a positive note, Rippey says South Dakota’s spring wheat harvest is moving right along.
