The City of Pierre will spray for mosquitoes throughout the community Thursday night (Aug. 13, 2026).
Because of increased mosquito activity, city crews will be out spraying after 9:30pm. They sprayed Wednesday night as well.
The most effective way to control the mosquito population is by eliminating their breeding habitats. Property owners can do their part to clear stagnant water from their property by emptying out bird baths, tire swings and any outdoor containers that collect and hold water. Even a small puddle can produce thousands of mosquitoes.
