PHOENIX – The NFL’s top receiver in 2022 received the award that recognized his feats.
Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson ran away with the AP Offensive Player of the Year award as announced Thursday at NFL Honors.
Jefferson got 35 first-place votes and earned 192 points, outdistancing the runner-up, Kansas City Chiefs’ quarterback. Patrick Mahomes, by a significant margin.
“It means a lot, especially where I come from, this doesn’t happen,” Jefferson said. “I was always doubted, wasn’t highly recruited. Having this award is amazing.”
Jefferson’s 128 catches and 1,809 yards both led the NFL in the regular season. He had eight touchdowns this season and now has 25 in his three-year pro career.
