FORT PIERRE – Ayden Behm scored late in the second period Sunday to give the Oahe Capital boys a 3-2 win over the Rushmore Thunder at the Expo Center to end the regular season.
The victory moved the Capitals (18-3-0-1) one point ahead of Rushmore for the third seed at the SDAHA boys varsity state tournament.
Aidan Dozark scored twice in the first period and the Capitals were up 2-0 after 17 minutes. Alexander Dietrich and Cameron Ritter scored in the first five and a half minutes of the second period to tie the game for Rushmore. Behm then scored the winner with 3:36 left in the second period.
Colin Lee again was steady in net, making 43 saves. Rushmore outshot Oahe 41-30.
The Capitals will play in the SDAHA boys varsity state tournament March 10-12 at Larson Ice Arena in Brookings. Their first-round game will be against sixth-seed Sioux Falls 2 on Friday, March 10.
