APRIL 13, 2023:
Students in the Pierre School District have one more day added on to the end of this school year, making their last day Friday, May 19, 2023, rather than Thursday, May 18.
District Superintendent Dr. Kelly Glodt says it’s been a record year for snow days.
Glodt says Pierre’s school calendar includes extra time, just in case of winters like this.
Pierre students made up one other snow day last month (March 16, 2023).

MARCH 2, 2023:
Students in the Pierre School District were scheduled to have March 16 off, but because the district called off classes two days last week (Feb. 22-23, 2023) due to weather, March 16 will be a make up day instead.
Superintendent Dr. Kelly Glodt says no other make up days will be necessary– unless the district has additional snow days. He says while the Pierre School District does have the technology to hold classes virtually, they’d rather not use that option for snow days.
The Pierre School District had five snow days in December 2022 prior to Christmas break, but Glodt says students don’t have to make up any of them– or one of the two days lost last week– because those were built into the school calendar for this year.
The Pierre School District’s last day of classes is currently scheduled for May 18, 2023.
