The Twins split their squad and had split results Sunday in spring training.
Minnesota 6, Detroit 2
At Fort Myers, Florida, Joey Gallo and Max Kepler hit their first home runs of the spring. Kepler’s homer put the Twins ahead to stay 3-2 in the sixth inning. Pablo López struck out four in two innings while allowing two runs and three hits. Tyler Mahle, Caleb Thielbar, Jhoan Duran and Jorge Alcala combined for seven shutout innings.
Pittsburgh 5, Minnesota 2
At Bradenton, Florida, Jose Miranda hit two solo home runs for the Twins (4-6-1). Starting pitcher José De León struck out six in three innings.
