SIOUX FALLS – South Dakota State wasn’t about to be stopped.
The Jackrabbit women earned an automatic NCAA Tournament bid with relative ease Tuesday, overwhelming Omaha 93-51 in the Summit League Women’s Championship game at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center.
Haleigh Timmer led four players in double figures for SDSU (28-5) with 18 points. Timmer was seven-of-eight shooting and four-for-four on three-pointers.
Paige Meyer scored 16 points, Paiton Burckhard had 14 and Myah Selland scored 11.
In their 21st straight win, completing an unbeaten conference regular season and tournament, the Jackrabbits shot 62% from the field (31-50) and made 13-of-19 three-pointers while holding Omaha to 34% shooting.
SDSU won the Summit League championship for the first time since 2019, the year when the Jacks made the NCAA Tournament’s Sweet 16. South Dakota State will play in its 11th NCAA Division I Women’s Tournament. The Jackrabbits will learn their first-round opponent and site on Sunday.
