South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem has ordered state government executive branch offices in certain counties be closed Tuesday (April 4, 2023) because of the winter storms in South Dakota. A handful of other offices will close at noon.
State offices will be closed all day Tuesday in the following counties: Brule, Campbell, Corson, Dewey, Edmunds, Haakon, Hand, Hughes, Jones, Lyman, McPherson, Mellette, Potter, Stanley, Sully, Todd, Tripp, Walworth, Beadle, Bennett, Brown, Buffalo, Butte, Custer, Fall River, Faulk, Harding, Jackson, Jerauld, Lawrence, Meade, Oglala Lakota, Pennington, Perkins, Spink and Ziebach.
State offices will close at 12pm CT in the following counties: Clark, Day, Grant, Marshall and Roberts.
While executive branch offices in these counties will be closed, state employees will be working remotely.
Heavy snow and high winds will take place across much of the state. Citizens should be prepared to stay home if possible. If South Dakotans must travel, they should check sd511.org, the SD511 mobile app or call 511 from any landline or cellular phone. All 511 services are free of charge.
