Burial will be at the Freiden Reformed Church Cemetery in Tripp, SD. Carol passed away Thursday, June 22, 2023 at the Mobridge Regional Hospital.
Carol Jean (Perman) Collignon was born to Helmuth and Elda Perman of Tripp, South Dakota on December 21, 1948.
After completing high school in Tripp, Carol graduated from the Methodist School of Nursing in Mitchell South Dakota on May 31st, 1970, and thrived caring for others as a registered nurse for 24 years, especially premature babies, in Yankton, South Dakota, Alexandria, Minnesota, Grand Island, Nebraska, St. Paul, Minnesota, Omaha, Nebraska, and Hibbing, Minnesota before retiring due to health issues.
On June 11th, 1970, Carol was united in marriage to Tom Collignon at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Yankton, South Dakota.
Carol loved life, her husband of 53 years, their sons, Chad and Brian, and three grandchildren.
Beyond family and friends Carol loved Christmas, travel and fishing. For many years no Christmas decorations were allowed to be displayed until after the three December birthdays of her and their sons, had been celebrated, and then Christmas was jubilantly displayed.
Carol especially enjoyed fishing. She introduced Tom to the sport on the James River at Mill Town, South Dakota when they were dating. She caught big fish, to the dismay of Tom, on Lake Michigan; in Wisconsin, thru out Minnesota, and especially on Lake Oahe in South Dakota. If the fish weren’t biting, then just being on the water brought her great joy. She lived life courageously and tenaciously as she continued to pursue her interests while dealing with health challenges including blindness, cancer, knee replacement, kidney and multiple pancreas transplants.
Carol is survived by husband Tom, sons Chad (Diana) of Farmington, MN; and Brian (Nicole), of Wichita, KS and three grandchildren, Hailey, Wyatt and Aubrey.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Myron.
The family requests that memorials be sent to the Mobridge Regional Hospital Foundation.
