Herbert Geigle, age 92 of McIntosh, passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2023 at Five Counties Nursing Home in Lemmon.
The Memorial Service will be held at 1:00pm Saturday, August 19, 2023 at the First Baptist Church in McIntosh with Pastor Audie Brockel, officiating. Inurnment will be in the McIntosh Cemetery.

Herbert Raymond Geigle was born on April 30, 1931 in Sioux County, ND to Henry and Lydia (Kunz) Geigle. He grew up in the Maple Leaf area of Sioux County where he attended school. He graduated from McLaughlin High School in 1949. He enjoyed playing football and made the varsity team while at McLaughlin.
Herb was united in marriage to Violet Arnold on June 23, 1953. They purchased a farm south east of McIntosh shortly after and farmed and ranched till his retirement in 1998. He moved into McIntosh where he resided until 2019 when he moved to the Five Counties Nursing Home in Lemmon SD.
He was a member of the McIntosh Baptist Church in McIntosh. Herb was active over the years holding various positions including trustee, deacon, and Sunday school superintendent as well as assisting in the construction of the current facility. Herb very much enjoyed watching high school sports including football, basketball and wrestling.
Surviving family members include his wife, Violet; sons, Eugene (Diane) Geigle; Lyle (Rita) Geigle, Randy (Kathy) Geigle, Gary Geigle; daughters, Deb (Joe) Douglas, Sandy Littlefield; June (David) Werner; grandchildren, Ethan and Raelyn Geigle, Michael and Julie Fudge, Doug (Erica) Douglas, Adam (Natasha) Geigle, Ashley Geigle, Dustin (Kyra) Werner, Jenna (Adrian) Miller, and numerous great grandchildren; brothers, Richard (Darlys) Geigle; sisters, Delores (Marvin) Knuth; Mae Harris, Darlene “Dollie” Hinson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Janice Geigle; brothers, Gilbert, Irey, and Ervin Geigle; sisters, Elizabeth Huber, Elsie Huber, Violet Aman, Alvina Tscherney, Irene Hach, and Lorraine Snyder.
