MITCHELL – What was once a four-goal lead turned into a stunning season-opening loss for the Oahe Capital boys.
Pacxton Denne scored with 3:37 remaining Saturday to complete a comeback for the Mitchell Marlins in an 8-6 win over the Capitals at the Toshiba Rink at the Mitchell Activity Center.
Behind two goals each from Devin Dodson and Jarron Beck, the Capitals had 5-1 and 6-2 leads before Mitchell scored the game’s last six goals. Levi Loken’s fourth goal of the game at 5:57 of the third period tied the game before Pacxton Denne’s winning goal. Parker Denne scored a power play goal with 1:33 left for the final margin.
Beck also had two assists for the Capitals. Dylan Dodson and Luke Miller also scored. Spencer Anderson made 26 saves in goal.

Brylee Kafka scored twice for the Oahe Capital girls Saturday, but Mitchell’s Brynlee Sabers also scored two, and her second goal with 8:50 remaining made the season opener a 4-4 tie.
Sophia Bales and Kafka scored in the first period and the Capitals had a 2-0 lead after 17 minutes.
Mitchell then had goals from Reese Amick, Livaya Mimmack and Sabers in a stretch of 1:21 in the second period before a tying goal by the Capitals’ Brenna Ullman.
Kafka then scored 1:34 into the third period before Sabers’ tying goal.
Sophia Peschong made 30 saves.
